About Jubilee Jones

Early Jubilee

Even as a kid, Jubilee Jones fashioned jewelry out of anything she could find. Bread clips became charms, soda tabs became rings, and anything from napkin rings to luggage tags were transformed into dangly earrings.

Had they been alive at the same time, Jubilee is certain that she and famed jeweler Louis Cartier would have been the best of friends. You see, the story goes that in the 1920’s, Mr. Cartier had an epiphany as he watched a lady clip laundry to the line. ‘Ah ha!’ he thought. ‘I can make beautiful jewelry out of those clothes pegs!’

And so he took the concept behind ordinary clothes pegs and began designing gorgeous jeweled clips. They became known as dress clips - after all, they look quite fetching on dresses – and were wildly popular.  Mr. Cartier’s brilliant idea for a device combining two clips into a brooch also took off with both fine jewelers and costume jewelers.

AboutStylish ladies began scooping them up. They clipped them to their gowns, jackets, blouses, and whatever else they fancied. Thanks to their beauty and versatility, dress clips remained fashionable from when they were first introduced through to the early 1950’s. And then - for reasons we can’t begin to fathom - they stopped being manufactured. Just like that, dress clips disappeared from jewelry shops, cocktail dresses, and the general lexicon.

For almost 70 years, they’ve been patiently waiting to be rediscovered. Fortunately, they caught the eye of Jubilee when she saw them being worn by many Royal ladies and she figured it was high time to bring them back. Thrilled by the challenge, she began designing original clips that provide versatility and elegance for any occasion.

Each Jubilee Jones piece is designed in sunny California and made with care. Our hope is that they become treasured keepsakes that you’ll love as much as we do.
